Here is a fact sad but true; many assault survivors must give their clothing to the police when they arrive at the hospital. The Police often need the victim’s clothing for evidence in the criminal investigation of the assailant. So how does this leave our assault survivor? So often the unfortunate answer is in a hospital gown. Many times we have seen a victim leave the hospital through the waiting rooms and parking lots in a flimsy gown which labels them as victims to all who see. New Beginnings Sexual Assault Support Services is heading up a drive called “Laundry of Love.” Our drive is putting together “Assault Survivor Kits” so that we will have them for the victims in their time of need. As you can see from our list below, these kits will include toiletry articles and new clothing. We hope this will give a small piece of dignity to these victims and will start the process of providing comfort to the victims at the beginning of their road to becoming a survivor. We here at New Beginnings already have trained volunteers in place who advocate for the victims in the hospitals. All we need is to help them gather the kits together so they will be able to put them into the hands of victims. It is our mission here at New Beginnings to help these victims and with your support we can have a ready supply of the “Laundry of Love” Assault Survivor Kits to give to female and male (adult and child) victims at all times. If you prefer, you can make a $15.00 donation and we will purchase the supplies for you. The next stop for your donation will be into the hands of a victim at a time of great need. |
