What to do if you or someone you know has been recently sexually assaulted: ◦ SAFETY if the victim is in danger call 911. ◦ MEDICAL ATTENTION Seek medical attention as soon as possible. It is important for the detection of physical injuries and sexually transmitted diseases. It is important to AVOID BATHING and NOT CHANGE CLOTHES, BRUSH TEETH, USE THE RESTROOM, EAT, or DRINK until evidence has been collected. ◦ SUPPORT Offer the victim as much support as he/she would like. Recommend counseling to begin the healing process. Our services are free & confidential. For additional information regarding surviving sexual assault, please visit our partner agency, the KY Association for Sexual Assault Programs. We offer FREE crisis intervention/counseling, as well as long-term therapy, medical & legal advocacy. What clients can expect from New Beginnings... A home-like atmosphere with friendly staff and comfortable environment. A quality therapist who tailors a therapy program to fit the clients' individual needs. A setting in which clients can CONFIDENTIALLY and openly express and explore their sexual abuse and/or assault and other related issues. A professional relationship with your therapist that will foster positive growth for clients while maintaining appropriate boundaries. A staff willing and qualified to offer referrals for clients' mental health issues that lie beyond the scope of sexual abuse and assault. We employ three therapists / crisis counselors... Including... two licensed clinical social workers (LCSW) and a certified social worker (CSW). All of these certifications require a master's degree & continuing education. New Beginnings has offices in Owensboro & Henderson. Our therapists travel to each of our *7 counties to meet with survivors. *Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, Mclean, Ohio, Union, & Webster Counties. |
